BIO
Award-winning filmmaker Maciej Aleksander Bierut has been experimenting with various formats and has had the pleasure of working with and for some of the greatest ones.
He had his breakthrough with a self-produced feature documentary premiering at Millennium Docs Against Gravity. Since then, he has worked on a wide range of projects, refusing to limit himself to specific genres. His portfolio includes music videos, short films, commercial work, and live shows.
Balancing both artistic and commercial projects, Maciej always gives his all, believing that there are no half measures in cinema. This dedication has earned him numerous accolades, including the Grand Prix Award at PL MVA and recognition from prestigious festivals like Camerimage, Fryderyk Awards, Millennium Docs Against Gravity, Portland Film Festival, OnArt Festival, and Berlin Music Video Awards, to name a few.
Maciej’s aim as a filmmaker is to continually break new ground while developing his unique film language, characterized by distinct visual aesthetics and conceptual narratives. He is captivated by the quest for the perfect balance between emotional depth and intellectual value. As a one-man army, he works not only as a writer-director but also as an editor, with ambitions to take on more projects as a producer. Currently, he is busy working on his screenplays, including his feature debut.
His motto is: "Suffering is temporary, film is forever."
